Business numbers where you need them

A business phone number no longer belongs to one telephone on one desk.

It can represent a team, office, market, service or application and route to different destinations depending on how the organisation works.

Althicom manages numbers as part of the wider communication infrastructure.

Free and non-binding. You talk to someone technical, not a sales script.

A geographic DID can give customers a familiar local way to reach a business while the people answering the call may work somewhere else entirely.

Use local numbers for offices, sales teams, support desks or market presence and route the traffic to the communication environment responsible for handling it.

For platforms and resellers, DIDs can also become customer resources managed inside a larger voice proposition.

National and non-geographic numbers

Some organisations need a national identity rather than a number associated with one city or region.

Where available, non-geographic and national number types can be connected to the same routing and management environment as other business numbers.

Toll-free numbers allow the called organisation to carry the cost of the call rather than the caller, subject to market-specific availability and rules.

They are often used for customer service, campaigns and central contact points. Provisioning may require specific documentation or local formalities depending on the country and number type.

UIFN and international service numbers

For some international use cases, UIFN or other international service-number arrangements may be relevant.

Premium-rate numbers

Premium-rate numbers can support specific service models where permitted.

They are subject to regulatory and market-specific restrictions, so availability and appropriate use need to be checked before provisioning.

Virtual mobile numbers

In markets where they are available, virtual mobile numbers can provide another number type for voice or messaging-related use cases without requiring the number to live on a traditional handset subscription.

International numbers

Operate across markets without building a separate phone environment for every country.

Number portability

A new provider does not automatically mean a new phone number.

Where portability rules allow it, existing numbers can move with the underlying communication environment. We verify number ownership, portability, documentation and dependencies before migration.

Porting is treated as part of the migration plan, not as an assumption made after the new environment is already built.

Number assignment and routing

Connect numbers to employees, teams, queues, services or applications.

Change the destination without rebuilding the underlying system whenever the organisation changes. A number can also route to different destinations depending on time, availability or business logic where the voice platform supports it.

Numbers and SIP connectivity

For PBX, reseller and carrier use cases, numbers are often closely linked to SIP connectivity.

DIDs can be delivered into a SIP environment, platform or PBX and routed according to the architecture behind the service. This allows the number layer and the voice platform to remain operationally separate where that is useful.

Numbers for platforms and resellers

For resellers and software businesses, a phone number can become part of the service sold to the customer.

Connect it to voice, messaging and application workflows while keeping the customer-facing proposition under your own brand. Provisioning, routing and lifecycle management can then become part of your wider customer process.

Tell us where the customer needs to be reachable, what the number must support and how traffic should be delivered.

We will map the appropriate number setup from there.

Choosing the right number type

The best number type depends on the market, customer expectation, technical route and regulatory requirements.
